Never seen that part before!
Now that I know it exists, I want to know more about it.
Google gives me some hits on that partnumber, and an ebay add seems to link it to the E10 model as well. Could it be the same part, as in I can scavenge one from an e10?

Anyone who can spot it in a pic in the tech manuals?

What is a bit strange, if that is the purpose, why are the captured nuts on engine side of firewall?
I have wondered about this myself. I attached it there because there are simply no other obvious mounting points. Also, why are there 2 screwholes...?

I have been looking at an unrestored car and on that car the threads are painted and thus have never been used.
