A very pretty (bristol?) NK 1800 - $22K. Curious to know what people
think of this one, and the registration issue. Why no pics of the seats?

I can’t imagine the shipping cost to US, but my flailing search for an overdrive with some comfort as to reliability may ultimately
lead me to swim over.

Posting this for @JayWltrs without hijacking a FS thread:

This should have a G265 with the proper bellhousing and manual speedometer. Factor in $1,000 for shipping, plus the cost of trans removal. You are left with an untested 5spd but you can always have it rebuilt or at least resealed. This is offset by the selling off some of the parts, particularly those that carry over to the E9. Figure: Struts - $200 - $300. Wheels: $200+, Intake Manifold: $150+, Exhaust Manifolds: $150+, Differential: $200-$700, ashtrays: $50, radiator fan: $40, brake booster: $60-$100, master cylinder: $100+, Calipers: $200, etc (but not much etc.)

$1,000 (150K miles or 250K?)

Not many sub $2K 528i' or e24's floating around at the moment.

Thank you, sir. Saw that car a bit ago, and it helped crystallize actual and time-value costs of recovery, rebuild, disposal, etc. I'll probably never part out a car, unless I do it with someone else for kicks. I place a higher value on reliability for trans, so I just need to pay for it, because I'll nickel & dime myself to death otherwise.

That said, reality is my engine must be pulled and gone through completely, and it probably makes more sense to start focusing on a core for upgrade. To bring back to topic, I have a business trip to No. Colo soon, and these are tempting me: https://fortcollins.craigslist.org/pts/d/e28-parts/6714898962.html https://wyoming.craigslist.org/cto/d/1985-bmw-535i-engine-and-or/6732648241.html

Parting out a car is easy. It has only taken me two years so far. :D

Neither of those engines are worth your time. The first is a B34. The second, a 1985 535 does have a G255 with an electronic speedo, but it is sold. Despite the advertisement the e28 never came
with a B35. That is another low compression B34. If you want to buy new pistons it isn’t a bad motor, but the compression and can on those cars are pretty dreadful. The CS came with a 272 cam and the B34 has a 260.

Here is what you should be after:
M30B35
Euro M30B34
M90

You can’t throw a rock without hitting a cheap B35 core so it’s a good option for instant HP. The other two are harder to find and generally involve buying the whole car.

Thanks! I knew generally about b34, but didn’t know there were no B35 e28s or the cam difference. Once again, I learn the most by saying wrong things. Would bug me for days at work, but it’s a humbling necessity for this crash course I’ve taken on.

I learn something new about these cars every single day! The 1989 e24 has a B35 and no motor mount bracket is required...

I bet this one needs a bracket or 2. One of my favorite CL e24s:

The voiceover: “HURRY! HURRY!HURRY! Don’t wait for this plug & play 302 for your very own super sleeper BMW. Over $25k in value can be yours today for only $6995. That’s right, only $6995! Act Now! BEFORE ITS GONE GONE GONE!.”

I’m such a sucker, I’d go look if it were local. But God only knows what horrors await completing that “project.”

I love that within the art it appears to have paint color stickers painting into the collage. That makes me like it even more. :D
