    Rear light Dilemma

I would replace/add a traditional bulb for the turn indicator for test. Case a: It works >> then you should replace the bimetallic flasher by an electronic one Case b: It does not help >> continue with search on wiring,,,,

    Zenith carbs

It´s not really a "company". It´s just Peter. I know him and can recommend him quite well. Recently he searched for (cheap) carbs to get parts for rebuilding other carbs. So, if anybody has some for sure he would be interested.

    Best Lift Points

The solution of Eric is really fine. I made an add. support to the frame behind the rear axle drive. I removed the complete rear "axis" incl subframe. I found rust (not detected before), aged seals (rear axle drive), missing grease in output shaft, rubber mounting (name?; see picture) in a...

In Europe I would take a look on Mobile, Classic trader or Classic UK. Maybe not so easy to juge/estimate due to it´s not a "normal" series car. What is the colour of your car ? I have "henna red" and up to now I know no other E9 in this colour. ;)

How much steering play is okay in e9?

I would NOT apply the idea with the metal stripes. - This is very safety relevant. NO experiments. The passive safety of our old cars is not comparable with nowadays. Therefore all things have to work as best as possible. - There are tough forces (as descibed before); think about you hit a...

How much steering play is okay in e9?

@roundel: Great; what you write. The play is min and the friction is max when the steering box itself is in straigth ahead position. Another ideas to find this postion would be: Middle between 2 lower friction points (could work from my feeling) or middle of the turns between lotal left and...

Dear all, maybe it makes sense to share my experiencies. I Spent a lot of time in the topic. - First (for sure) all steerage linking parts have to have zero play. - Second I found some small play in the "Kreuzgelenk" - Then I did several approaches with this famous screw at the steering...

    Subframe Bushings

Dear all, a few months ago I replaced #10 and #3 and I would like to share my experiencies. I used for #10 the W&N part. The old one was really in a bad condition and this was not really visible, when installed. In the german E9 forum I had a discussion about the "solidness" of the used screws...

    Testing Thermostat Functionality

I just checked on ebay. A new thermostaT from a really good supplier like Behr (Febi Bilstein, Wahler,..) has an price of about 20....25 Euros. In such cases I just apply risk management and replace the part. ;) The damage in case it suddenly refuses a good function could be much, much higher.

    Exhaust Ring Confusion

They are different. The one is made of metal and it seals between the 2 cranked exhaust pipes. The second one has a kernel with sealing material. It seals additionally by pressing on the pipe which is extended and goes in the inner through the connection. ...hopefully my English is not too...

    Compression test CSi

I started this estimation after the my rebuilded Diesel engine was running on the one side and on the other side the measured compression was to bad. I was surprised about the influence, too. Now it´s clear, why the better instruments have short adapters... ;) The compressed volume of different...

    Compression test CSi

Hi, by adding the measurement equipment the volume (especially the compressed) changes / gets bigger. This is according to: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Avogadro%27s_law I made in the past a rough calc for a Diesel engine and ended with about 20% influence on compression. So the added volume...
