What non-e9 color would look the best on an e9?

If you had to pick a color that was not one of the standard bmw e9 colors, what would be the best color you would choose? The color would have to highlight the best aspects of the e9.

I'm curious to see if there are people out there with different opinions besides the factory colors made for the bmw e9.

there were so many great colors available to the e9 ... that is a really tough question. probably hennarot, a second might be stratosblau (similar to fjord). i have always wondered about bronzitbeige, but not positive that would be as dynamic. i love cars in white, some have referred to chamonix as a 'dirty' or 'winter' white - i have always wondered about a coupe in alpineweiss. @m5bb has a beautiful Avusblau coupe with a lot of pearl in it - very pretty color. one of my favorite non-BMW colors is Porsche GT Silver - a warm silver with a lot of depth.

My favorite non e9 BMW color is 1980’s Lapis Blue. I had an e23 in that color.

In 1959 Chevy offered a blue that was deeper, richer, and slightly bluer than fjord. That would be my choice. A drag racing buddy, Jim Fishburne, had a '59 Impala in that color.

A dozen years later I showed my then and still wife Karen an Impala in that color, and we named it "Fishburne Blue." On rare occasions we will spot a car in what looks like Fishburne Blue and comment, "look, there's Fishburne Blue, still lovely."

I went with Jerez Black on mine, a nice black/blue that can also appear purple in certain light

Ooh, I like it. My car was/is Chamonix but this is tempting. Tri-stage paint!
This is not the blank white of Alpine white and the pearl/metallic helps show off the curves nicely.

Too bad I already bought new paint, actually '64-'68 GM Ermine-Cameo White,
a single-stage paint that better matches my painting skills, comes very close to Chamonix and I got a very good price.

I have wanted to color change my Polaris e9 to Reseda green. It’s a close period correct color found on e12 and e21 cars. I think it’s beautiful next to chrome and I’ve thought it would look amazing with an almost white, but just barely green interior and Bamboo trim to top it off. I guess I’d have to get a tag that read: GRN TEA. This is a dream I hope to put into reality in the next few years

Gary's coupe is well done. it is a slight resto-mod ... it is tailored to Gary's likes and its well done. the color - Avus blue is not an original e9 color, but a beautiful BMW color. the interior is not an original BMW leather color, its a leather that i sourced for him - the front seats are Scheel Mann sport seats. Gary built the engine - it has triple webers ... and it is a strong engine with a Paul Burke cam. the brakes have been modified by deletion of the brake booster and uses a different system that he studied an implemented. there are more things done with Gary's high attention to detail. while its not the cup of tea of the e9 purists ... its a well done coupe that will last. and you have to love the license plate 'RustNOT'
