As I’ve posted here over the past few months, my part in this work was commissioning and paying for it. Regardless, I’m excited about the new wiring harness and many general improvements under the bonnet and in the trunk.

feeling more confident in the mechanical condition of the car put 110 miles on the car today...

I made my doors hold themselves open.
So many other things have been more important, but since I take my kids to school every morning, and the door keeps closing on them whist they gather their various backpacks, instruments, lunch, etc., they finally told me that this was to be my next project.
My original units were completely shot so I’ve had nothing at all. I ordered a pair of Mercedes units a couple months ago and it took them some time to get here.
I didn’t have to remove the door panels completely to get them in, so it was a quick project. Removing the old pins was the most amount of time and struggle.
I never knew that getting in and out of a car could be so enjoyable - now that the door doesn’t bash against me the second I let go of it.

I drove my CS on the Homestead/Miami Speedway Sunday morning. The local British Motoring club had an open invitation to drive the big oval for 15 minutes. There were about a dozen cars from a 1964 XKE roadster to a '59 Healy Sprite racecar to a '68 green fastback Mustang. The rules were we could pass other drivers but not the Pace Truck. We were told we would be going a little faster than highway speeds.
As we were getting ready, the Corvettes and Porsches were on the track going at least 100 MPH by holding back and then accelerating up to the Pace Truck.
The banking of the turns when seen from the infield is intimidating--really high!!
We all get out for our turn and the first lap is about 55 MPH. I down-shift into 3rd and pass all of the cars at 70 MPH. We realize this is not going to be a fast event so I let them all pass so I can get a little speed. Now in 2nd gear, I hit it on the banked turn and get 5000RPM in 3rd going 80,shift into 4th at 90 for about 10 sec and slow down to the pack going 60 mph. I should have driven the whole track in 2nd and 3rd. The banked turns were so high that there was little effort on the steering wheel to make the sweeping left turns.
We then had turns with pics taken in the winner's circle. This was like getting a participation trophy. At that time the next group of Tesla's were speeding around the track. All you could hear were their tires....

Today I removed, had repaired and painted my Radiator fill/overflow tank…the overflow inlet was loose so I cleaned it down to metal
and had a friend soldered it back, Also removed and painted the Power steering reservoir…

You can easily make your own. I cut pieces from a plastic drink container, punched the holes added a tiny bit of moly grease and installed. Perfect.
You can still get the original style radiator cap to finish the nice work!
Completed the rear subframe bushing replacement. Not terribly difficult, I was fortunate all nuts turned, all bolts were free and easily extricated. All buttoned up. I was amazed, however, at the fissure that had developed in one rubber mount. The other showed similar, but not as severe. Still 48 years, I am OK with that!

I know you can put Year Of Manufacture plates on your car in Texas, if the number hasn't been registered on a currently issued plate, but can you use non US form factor plates? I didn't see that in the regs when I was looking it up. I've moved to Florida now so there are a whole new set of rules to research.

I’ve been running place like this on my bmw 2002 for five years with no problem, I did not seek permission…
Finally got my 73 rear bumper installed with Paul Cain’s help, it took an hour or so but it is a lot of work. It was never centered properly. We also adjusted driver door, that was a bit more scary, but now it is level. I painted hood hinges/bolts body color along with torsion rod which was an incorrect earlier respray.
Got the last rear quarter window set and adjusted, installed door card with new basketweave and vinyl and placed the seatbelts and seat. It’s more work than you would imagine. I cleaned and greased rear window tracks but they are still slow. I think it is more a function of the window brushes squeezing the glass which is a good thing on the outside.
