I honed in on the optimal carb adjustment with the help of Jfeng and all his electronic toys. We went for a drive in my...yes unregistered car. I was happy to hear John say " this is the way this car was meant to feel". With all new everything rubber, the car is as tight as a camel's ass in a sandstorm. My first ever drive since purchased in a sorry state in 2017.

Now let's see pics of the complete car sitting out in your driveway. Congrats on that first drive.

We didn’t home
I’m on anything. Bob plugged two big vacuum leaks and we tweaked just enough that it start properly, hold a solid idle, and was drivable around the block.

What should really happen is
(1) step by step carb check per the book, (2) a test comprehensive drive with AFR monitoring.
(3) adjustments and jetting changes where justified.

Barney - where did you obtain the downpipes? And are you running an M30 or something later?

When reassembling doors I found a crack that moved when operating windows, thought it was a strange place to have a crack. My oldest son has a MIG welder and he took care of it nicely.

Got passenger side vapor barrier and door card installed, everything tucked in nice. I have been told end of wood should be chocolate brown, not black.

Entered my first car show Saturday that had judges for several classes of vehicles. My car was first in the European car class. The little trophy has a VW Bug on it.
