You would need to re-power your boat with a pair of these before I would be much help my friend....
Yesterday I drove the CS to the shop at 9am to install the S38 ... cannot wait to hear it run in the car.
Day #2 - We pulled the 3.3 liter from the CS and placing the S38 into the bay (Day #1 was pulling the S38 motor due to two frozen bolts - manifold & top of trans/motor).
Brake booster - We made the decision to measure and cut the arm off the CS booster and weld it onto the 2002tii booster. The solution worked well and the re-installation the brake lines took longer that we expected.
These are our questions from yesterday - your feedback / suggestions are invited on please:
1.) Throttle Linkage - The M5 is a wire pull system. Has anyone found an easy connection to the CS firewall arm?
2.) Exhaust & Muffler - The M5 headers are wonderful and have a crossover to dual mufflers. I plan to look for a megaflow muffler to run parallel to the driveshaft, is there a muffler for behind diff. more open then stock someone can suggest?
3.) M5 Differential/Rear suspension - We plan to bolt the M5 rear into the CS including its brakes. How much work is needed to make the Diff fit? The M5 3.91 diff maybe too low and I've be looking for a 3.45 diff from a 635 and referencing the gearing through --- Transmission Ratio RPM calculation: http://www.ringpinion.com/Calculators/Calc_RPM.aspx
The M5 had 225/55/16 tires that are 27.04" in height ... Plan for the CS is 225/50/16 being 24.85" and 205/50/16 being 24.07" are much lower and are going to raise the revs.
--- 3.91 ratio diff / 24.4" tire (Aver. 24.07 & 24.85) height and a .81 5th gear = 3,489rpm @ 80mph.
--- 3.45 diff / 24.4" and .81 5th = 3,079rpm @ 80mph
4.) Front Brakes - The Wilwood upgrade kit has a 11" rotors upfront and so does the M5. Has anyone done an M5 brake upgrade or used calipers from an e28? The 16x7/8 Alpina's arrived last week so the larger diameter rotors will fit.
5.) Tires - Is there a brand/model for 16" 205/50 and 225/50 tires someone can recommend?
Thanks,
Greg
