I put one in my coupe to try to keep heat and noise out. I'm not sure what it came from but I own an E28 and have owned an E24 and it could be from either one of those.

No sign of a rubber boot on my 4spd ZF. It doesn’t look to be particularly necessary either.

I used the CV boot from a VW, it's thicker than the ones I've seen on the G265-5's in e24's. I think it quiets things down a little- it also stops my coffee from spilling onto the road and harming the asphalt.

Gary, I think it was from an 87 Scirocco but I think any boot would do, you can make it fit by trimming the wider end and pushing it through the shifter hole from the top-
