I have the brackets for the hood torsion bar. I have no idea of the purpose or the location the part that my thumb is on (orientation, which bracket left or right etc). I do not have the hood so cannot just connect the dots. Thanks

I hope these pictures help you do what I couldn't accomplish.

They were taken before I disassembled the broken hood torsion bar to weld the broken "rod end" (my terminology).

I couldn't figure out how to piece it back together, so now the whole assembly sits in my garage, replaced by a custom 2 x 4.

I got it, built in stop. My E3 has no such thing....or it was removed over the 45 years of its life.

I don't think the bav has one of those and they can be a pain to assemble. You can easily make a tool to do it out of a flat piece of steel and two bolts. DeQ made a fancier tool but I copied it on the cheap and it worked quite well :) Let me know if you need a picture- if you plan on using the torsion bar.

Are you sure the e3 doesn’t have this? It keeps the torsion rods tensioned once you have moved them into place just like the e9.

Positive. In fact my E3 setup is not the same at all. I went to look at it before starting this thread. My E3 is a 72 so maybe the later years mimicked the E9.

Peter, can you post a Pic? Many Thanks.
