Secondly, I think I understand your apprehension. Was the email from the potential buyer similar to the one I just got today?
Hello,I really appreciate your response to my mail.I want you to consider the item sold, pls do withdraw the advert from Craigslist to avoid disturbance and to be rest assured on my side that i have bought it.I want you to know that i will be paying via cashier's check ..I will need you to provide me the following information to facilitate the mailing of the check...
1.Full name to write on the check
2.Full Physical address to post the check
3.Home & Cell Phone to contact you
I will like you to know that you will not be responsible for shipping i will have my mover come over as soon as you have cashed the check.

Sorry to sound so sarcastic, but there is NO way any legit buyer would write this way. Paypal, credit card or a wire to a low-balance bank account are the only way to go with these transactions. If I'm accepting a wire or if I were every forced to take a check, I use a savings account set up at a local bank with less than $50 in the balance. Even still, give out as little personal information as possible until you can verify who you're talking to.
