Too many projects and not enough time…or money. Still on the fence but I figured I'd see if there was any interest. I can email additional pictures.
Background / Details:
The car was first sold in Santa Monica and has lived in CA its entire life. I bought it about 8 months ago with the intention of doing a resto-mod build, utilizing a 135i drivetrain (crazy, I know…but I build rally cars so not impossible).
The car had a non-functioning auto trans when I bought it. I replaced the auto trans with a used (previously rebuilt) auto trans (I cleaned the engine bay and took a lot of pictures). Engine and trans are in the car but I have not completed re-connecting everything to ensure it runs and drives again (if I can find the time I will button everything back up).
Prior to replacing the trans, the engine ran great and appears to have been well taken care of. The AC is out of the car but I have the compressor and condenser, though I’m not sure of their working order.
The previous owner kept most service receipts etc. It has a virtually new NOS exhaust and muffler. Aftermarket front and rear sway bars. There is a medium sized milk crate with spare parts, some new.
The car was repainted a number of years ago.
Rust Details:
I pulled the tar pads off the shock towers and there is some rust. Driver side appears to be rusty but solid, no holes. Passenger side has a couple small holes.
The firewall behind the glove box is pretty solid with a quarter sized rust spot but it does not appear to be a through hole. The firewall and a-pillar on the driver side appears to be very “dry” with only surface rust.
There is some rot on the lower fenders but the rest of the car (floors, rear shock towers etc.) seems very solid.
It’s a perfect candidate for a full restoration.
