I have doubts to those being for an E9, but rather an E3, E12 or very early E24. My understanding is the struts are different in an E9. I just checked realoem and it shows early E12 and E24 using the same part. However, I know for sure E3 takes the same springs and shocks as an E12 and E24 as I have sold 4-5 sets of lowering springs and also strut inserts and shocks for an e3 that also fit E12 and early E24.

Steve is correct, the gland nut is either 48mm or 50mm I think. The 74 and on cars supposedly had the spindle angle changed and the control arm was lengthened.
