Hi Folks,

I need to cut my HL grilles for the wipers, and I can’t bring myself to cutting my set of NOS grilles. I would like to sell these, but I’m not sure what is fair. As you know folks on ebay will have sets for $4K listed for the next 10 years. :D Even if you have no need for these, what is fair?

$400-500 for the pair, NOS after all and I don’t see any scratches.

I got a similar figure from someone via message, $300 each.

These are almost NOS for $4,500, so
I figure mine are worth closer to $6K :D :D :D

I would say they would be worth what someone will pay, a concourse car will need them! It's pointless me making an offer because I would need shipping to the UK and that would be risky for such a delicate rare item.
$450 - $500 each would seem fair I would say, think they were about €370 each last time I saw them for sale many years ago and that's over $400 now.

unfortunately, that doesn't mean that i was fortunate enough to buy it. the last time i saw one for sale from a dealer, it was only one side available and it was $200 but that has been 4 or so years ago.

unfortunately prices on realoem / dealers bare no reality to one another. although it is usually the other way around - low price on realoem and higher dealer price. the good news is that neither realoem or W+N list them as NLA / ended. so there is hope that one day BMW will make them again ... and this will be a low number when they do as they will make 25 pair or so for the world. that being said ... as i have mentioned to @Markos, i am a buyer, and if i am lucky enough to be at the front of the line, i will pay his ask.

Makos asked for help pricing his NOS grills. Responders offered examples. How does this ruin the hobby?

i will add to this by noting that @Markos is not listing these on ebay or trying to maximize profits / create a retirement fund ... and especially doesn't want to carve up a NOS set for headlight washers. i see 2 real positives for our e9 coupe community, not adding to the ruin of our hobby. one last thing, Markos has stated this is not an auction.

the above was said ... but i am sad that i wasn't the successful buyer of these beautiful grilles. good for the very lucky buyer.
@Markos, if you need a grille to practice your cuts on / fitment, i have one that doesn't have the polished trim and already has a crack in it.

Threw up in my mouth a little when someone mentioned Sliscovich "offering" a used set on ebay for 850, sorry it got the best of me, certainly wasn't grousing about Markos selling his grills. I am sure he knows that

Hi Folks,

Update. These are sold to the first person in line, who agreed that $300 per side is fair. He suggested that number initially, only after I reached out for an opinion on asking price.

I’ve played the “go to guy” role on fair pricing for a long time. I always provide my opinion on fair forum pricing, as well as opportunistic (ebay / BaT) pricing. Some parts are so rare and regularly inflated that I require assistance.

I hope that nobody feels that my wanting to ask a fair price is ruining the hobby. I take my reputation as a seller seriously, and I feel that I have done a good job of offering stuff at FMV.

Lastly, all of the crap that I still need to buy has doubled or tripled in price. I think it is reasonable to sell stuff that I don’t need at *forum market value in order to fund things that I absolutely require.

Only a handful of people know and understand the magnitude of the DiY project that I have personally taken on. For the record, I don’t need anything BMW related.

This is my “hobby”. Just don’t call it that in front of my very frustrated immediate family.

Mark--Are you building a garage and a septic tank drain field?
:D

I’m on sewer. The perf pipe was for footing drains. I added 1,100sf of living space (500sf of that is reframed old garage), 800sf of new garage, and 275sf of covered deck. I reconfigured the entire inside so the house is gutted. I’ve been working on it every day since last April and likely have a year to go.

FWIW - @dp and I have had plenty of private conversations around the frustrations of market pricing. No issues there.
