question about diff

I own a U.S version 73 cs and would like to know how to tell if my car has a limited slip diff, thanks

While PM is correct, here's the gist of it:

1. when vehicle is on a lift, spin the driveshaft and watch the wheels. The two rear wheels will behave differently depending on if you have an open or LSD.
2. There is a stamped "S" next to the ratio tag, (located on the bottom edge on the right side looking at the car from the back to front) and a white, painted "S" located on the top of the diff.

As mentioned, this question has already been raised.
The "S" on the diff case is an indication, but paint may have gone with the years.
I experienced a lim. diff. with no "S".
The good solution is on the blue BMW binders. BMW has a tool you may make ( made of several rollers side by side) .
You put one rear wheel of your car on it, and put 1st gear.
If the car goes off the tool, you have a lim.diff.
