Petri 38cm/ leather were only on the csl from factory (early carb csl’s had a Momo Alpina wheel)

Petri 40cm/ foam we’re offered for the cs/ csi as a sports wheel option

Petri 35cm/ 38cm were offered for the 2002 models as a sports wheel option as did some VW models too. Off which some were dished too.

One could of course buy any of the above mentioned wheels sizes to include the leather csl wheel at the local BMW dealer for your car.
There was also a very rare option 38cm Black Petri which was offered via Petri itself.

Apart from the csl’s, Petris were a sports wheel option, not the norm.

In the pics section there is a very cool ‘show your steering wheel’ write up.

B.T.W. I've never seen a factory black Petri. 99% of the black Petris are painted to hide imperfections.

I’ve seen and know a very reliable person with a brand new black Petri, still in the box. 1% are the real deal.

It is interesting to know if that limited edition of black Petri is painted over nickel plating or straight on bare metal with the same paint type that Petri used for 2002 turbo steering wheels or later type e21, or Opel Ascona?

Ok, so now we know that it is different type of paint than 2002, because that one was originally gloss (used to own genuine 2002 turbo wheel).
