Mystery clamp

Can't figure out what this clamp does. It is located under the dash right above the heater/fresh air controls.
The boss which holds the threaded portion looks like it's glued to the sheet metal. Any ideas?

If I am not mistaking that is one of the four that holds the Dash pad in place

yes, that is one of the clamps that holds the dash in place. be careful loosening the nut, the bolt can break loose from the wood - its set in the wood with resin that can crumble.

It's set in wood with resin and WILL crumble :-(

when i removed my dash i hollowed out a square in the bottom of the dash and inseted a piece of oak
so it will always be anchored firmly
