We had a pretty discouraging outing at the Portland Historics for both cars. Fortunately the 1800 ran flawlessly all weekend.

The CSL was grouped with a real hodgepodge group of cars- old & new Can-Am, NASCAR cars, tube-frame Trans-Am cars, and FIA cars:

We developed an overheating problem that actually followed us from Sonoma. The inlet tube on the water pump was being sucked closed at high RPM. We didn't discover it before we experienced some overheating issues during the last run in Portland. End result- warped head. We sent the head off to Korman, but it was too far out of whack to resurface, so Korman put the rush on and prepped a new head for us:

It arrived at GMT this morning and Tim and crew are putting it on as we speak. We also sent the carbs out to Loyning's Engine in Portland for a little modification to help with fuel surging on left hand corners. They arrived back at Tim's shop last Friday.

The 700 ate a hub bearing on Saturday morning, so we parked it for the rest of the weekend. Following the race it went back up to Seattle to have the new seats and door bars installed, along with new hub bearings and carrier bearings in the transaxel. Here are the new seats and door bars:

We are looking forward to a fun week in Monterey. We will be showing the TiSA in Carmel on Tuesday, and the Legends show on Friday. The CSL races on Saturday, and the 700 on Sunday. Can't wait!

For those who don't know, the work being done to the head is measuring the volume of the combustion chamber, otherwise known as "CCing the head". It is just part of the obsessive work that Korman Autoworks is kown for.

We are going to Monterey and attending the Legends event on Friday, Laguna Seca on Saturday and of course the Concours on Sunday.

What's your name? I will look for you on Saturday.

Final preps for Monterey underway! The head arrived back from Korman and is on the engine. Final cam timing and replacement of front cover are all that remain:

We have also added a few more period graphics to the rear of the car to bring it in line with how it looked when it ran at the Ring in 1973 with Niki Lauda in the seat:

I will be driving over to Bend Friday morning to pick up the car, and we will head down to Monterey on Sunday. I hope to post some updates during the week.
