aknowledgements: to stevehose for spreading the infection

i always liked the look of those beautiful driving lights on the front of the coupe, but the hella style was too "flat" and too big (160mm is a lot !)

so it seemed that it was not for me, but our restless steve found a solution

there was a french brand called marchal (i had never heard about them before) that built nice rounded and small diameter lights, steve found them bought them and installed them, ...and he propagated the infection with some nice pics of his wonderful coupe

he even gave me directions, and i found a bit different units, that were so beautiful...

no visor:

with visor:

and, i went for the "with visor" ones, apparently available, but in fact "sold-but-not-paid"...etc,

so to make a long story short, they were a delayed present from X-mas that arrived on January

I like them too. Did you put a rubber washer between the bumper and the light?

Yellow headlights, a hole in the bumper, a light with nipples, will madness ever stop :)

Nylon is probably a good choice. Now that I think about it, the Nipples on your High Beams are quite prominent (As Arde pointed out).

Beautiful lights and of course nice installation. 1964 - very sweet. If you want more wattage in that Marchal style bulb, you can get 55 watts in yellow or clear here:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Marchal-thr...Parts_Accessories&hash=item3a6341368c&vxp=mtr

That's the most wattage I have found for this bulb.

Love the clear glass with yellow bulb, it changes size in the reflector depending on how you view it from the front.

Welcome to the dark side (or the enlightnened side?)!

probably not in this life :)

anyway, the hole was there, but it was not so big and it was covered by a chromed bigheaded bolt.

...about the nipples, that our perceptive bob had detected too, yeah, they are so ....sexy !

thank you again, you were the "master" showing me the "light" ;-)

enlightment ? oh, very nice, i love that period, let's go back then !

about the bulbs, thanks for the link, i noticed that yours were more "orange". i bought these ones from lessixtroenes, and they were not so expensive, 26 euro i recall (BTW, very nice people, some day i will tell the whole story)

thanks to all for the nice comments

i have a question that someone might be able to answer,

the nipples ! yes, how sexy, beautiful, ....and how expensive to build in a glass...

so, they must have a purpose, the question is what are they for ?

my opinion is that they might be there to know that the light is on when you look at it by the side, but then again: what for ?

regards

I think you are over thinking it. They're French, they take their design inspiration from the Primal side. Arde had it the first time.

Besides the previous sexual explanations which are certainly plausible, the real reason is to keep oncoming cars from being blinded by the direct light from the bulb.

Some American cars in the Fifties had bumperettes shaped like, well, a female protuberance (called Dagmars, I believe, after some actress?) Now we have nipples on headlights?

i can not discuss it, but it does not seem very plausible to me, your lights do not have the "nipples", and then...are you a "light killer" ? ;-)

lets go with the installation,

following the advice of stevehose i checked the drawings, and found that there is a free terminal with a positive signal comming from the headlights (high beam) switch: (number 15 in the drawing)

conexionluces_zpscc89a5e5.jpg

so my intention is to take this signal back to the under steering wheel cover, and install a lighted switch
