Introduced around 1972/73, the Kokos mats in racing flag pattern were offered in several colors as an overlaying protection for the delicate carpet. Designed originally for the new 5 Series E12, those can be installed in the E3/E9. Offered here are 2 sets in the color Golf-yellow/black. Set one is complete for 350 eur, the other is missing the front right side for 250 eur. Both sets are NOS but should be cleaned. Shipping and incidentals on request.

I believe you have the modern simplified version. The originals are infact as depicted.
Maybe Gerrit has a car on hand and could install them to show the fit?
