Hi,

According to E9 Experts which I'm not ... Gear set is needed for M3 gearbox and one year only 265/6 transmissions from 1984 as it is having small diameter insert.
Earlier transmissions have had bigger external diameter bowden cable base. That topic was discussed in more details on that forum several times.

Please check the fitment with your transmission.

For the archives- the large speedo gear used in the 1 year only 265/6 and the M3 and all the coupe 4 speeds and the 265/6 5 speed OD and the 265/5 Close ratio Trannys are…

The smaller speedo gear which we do not use is… 19mm

I can confirm that diameter is ~19mm:


It does not changing the facts that remaining parts, excluding the barrel are extremely expensive (new or used).

I'm open to sell the rest from the setup (washer, warm gear, shaft). Feel free to PM me with your offers if Someone is interested.
