I have not started my 73 auto in a couple of weeks, I started it today and I noticed it would not idle. I noticed fuse 11 is blown I replaced the fuse and soon as I turn the key the fuse blows again. The books says fuse 11 auto choke, oil pressure warning, fuel and temp indicator, tach. I unpluged everything accept the cluster and still I see a big spark then fuse blown Is there something I am missing on this circuit ? Seems like a pretty big short

I would look on the wiring and follow the right wire color.

For old cars some can do modifications. Isolation gets brittle and sometimes it is stripped passing metal sections.

You can remove the fuse and connect ohm beeper (continuity tester or test bulb). Shaking of wiring can help to limit the area of potential fail.

I unpluged everthing except the instrument cluster will do that soon. I do not have a garage so cold or rain stop my progress

Hello, Do you have the electric idle solenoids on your carbs? Those should be disconnected with the choke wires also.
