Rare original series 1 4 speed manual CSI in great condition after having undergone a detailed yet originality-sympathetic restoration.

A beautiful example finished in original colour of Granatrot metallic with black interior. It's a genuine original fuel injected example and not a modified CS or 2800 model and one of only a very limited number of right hand drive models made. The CSI is also far rarer than the CSL model with only 207 RHD versions ever produced in its short life and its rarer still being a series one, the later series 2 cars having a nasty vinyl roof as standard.

The standard spec includes all-round electric windows and power steering and it also has the optional factory-fitted electric sunroof. I also have a set of original and refurbished BMW Alpina style alloy wheels for the car (they were optional when the car was new) so the new owner can decide which style of wheels they prefer.

It has had only 5 owners in it's near 40 year life (I've had it for nearly 5 years) - The last owner (a close family friend) purchased the car in 1984 and had spent much over the years keeping it in excellent condition. It underwent a major body & structure restoration in 2002 by BM Workshops in Kent which addressed all of the typical areas that they known to corrode in, including; Inner & outer sills, Inner and outer front wings, A pillars, Doors, Floors, Bonnet, Boot lid, Front & rear valances, Front & rear strut mountings and various other smaller areas. The car was treated to extensive rust-proofing straight after this work was completed using modern materials and techniques - far better than when the car was originally built by BMW and there is no rust anywhere on the body or overall structure - Exceptionally rare for an E9.

I have backed this up over my three years of ownership with a large amount of additional work from E9 specialists MJF Engineering and Little Compton Garage, including;

Interior refurbished with new carpets, head lining, restored original steering wheel, wooden door inserts, various trim parts and a dashboard wood re varnish. New electric window regulators front and rear have been fitted along with a new windscreen wiper motor, heater and sunroof motor (though the later needs some adjustment).

Full brake rebuild including new calipers, pipes, discs, pads, hoses, handbrake cables and fluid.

It's been kept in original specification throughout and has never been modified. It drives beautifully with a very smooth engine, clutch and gearbox action and a nice tied-down chassis. The springs, shocks and bushes have all recieved attention and it uses virtually no oil. The brakes are also excellent having been treated to a full re-build recently.

It has a full MOT from this month (Valid now til November 2014) which it passed first time (As it has always done since I've owned it). It is also road tax exempt from April 2014 as an added classic-owning bonus and I am paying just £137 for fully comprehensive insurance per year on a limited mileage classic policy.

There is a huge and detailed file of history and bills dating back to when then car was new. It is HPI clear and has never been in an accident or subject to any kind of insurance claim.

The work mentioned above has been executed beautifully and there is a photographic record of the work done. It is exceptionally solid all-round has also been featured in the February 2013 issue of Classic & Sportscar magazine.

It's a very rare (amongst the rarest of all BMW's, in fact), beautiful and sought after classic which is ready to be enjoyed for decades to come. Whilst not concourse it is in great condition and with some minor trim work would make a fantastic useable classic or collectors piece for a BMW ethusiast here or abroad (Happy to facilitate export to Australia, Singapore, Malaysia, etc).

It's located in Wellingborough Northants (NN29) so please feel free to contact me with any questions or to organise a viewing - further pictures are also available.
