Engine block numbers

My 72 Euro E9 does not have a stamped vin above the starter. I assume the engine was installed as a factory replacement. On the starter side of the block there is a stamping "3.0/3.3". On the right side above the motor mount there are two numbers, I assume casting numbers that read "1 259 525" and "26A78".

Any help decifering this would be appreciated.

The vin should be stamped into the flat part of the block where it connects to the transmission in the back part of the engine bay. You will see the flat spot on the block with a flashlight. If there is no number it was replaced.

On the right side still has the manufacturer's logo to be poured.
EB = "Eisenwerk Brühl" aka Ironworks Brühl
1 259 525 is the row cast number
26A78 is the production date. 26.week in the year 1978
It may be that the block came 1979 by BMW into production
