Looked like nice til I got the hood open. I guess one could just bit the bullet and become an expert in fender innard and firewall repair?

You mention rust pics on your FB page yet provide no link, please post a link or add the pics to the listing. <----end of message

---------------------------------------

Despite being an automatic, I like the looks of everything I see in the pics posted in the listing. If I were in the market I'd be actively pursuing this one with that BIN price of $14.5K. It looks complete and the interior looks perfect and it has a decent old radio. I know a source for repairing the driver seat velour too.

Speculating from examining the pics it probably needs both rocker panels and some floor work at least. Upper strut bearings are shot, there is some bubbling at the top of the passenger side fender in the engine bay. The paint looks good with no obvious rust bubbles in the usual places seen in other ebay listings.

It looks similar to my '73 CSi, Athena, when I bought her in July 2011. Work done is chronicled in the registry link in my signature.

Received a response from the seller. with pics of the rusted areas. Rockers are gone, floors are really bad with not much left on the driver side. Shock towers behind the back seats are showing rust cracks on both sides. :(

Mine is far from perfect, but much better looking than that one. It will be interesting to see what it sells for so I have some idea of what mine is worth.

And that ladies and gentlemen is why a PPI is required

In this case beauty is only skin deep

Astonishing, how good a car can look in photos, and well.....
Price way too high.
That's my 2 cents..,.

Yes, I will see my friend Axel this weekend and get the info.

Sent this message to the seller.
....... It looks complete and the interior looks perfect and it has a decent old radio. I know a source for repairing the driver seat velour too.

Could you pass on the info for the source for the seat repairs?

Rob,
The corduroy type material used in the middle of the seats is BMW part #
51 92 1 817 333. Only available directly from BMW in Germany.

The velour type material for the sides I matched with a sample I got from Döpper in Germany.
http://www.doepper-oldtimerstoffe-gummiprofile.de
Their part number is Blaue Wollen Stoff P 91 11 322.

Rob,

I have some good blue velour 'used' that I removed from a pair of European CS seats. IF you are interested, send me a direct e-mail and I can return pictures of it. Good to very good condition, in my opinion.
