Hi Guys, I purchased a set of these door handles chrome finishing bits, from Wallothnesch about a year ago...
Its no longer available, but was described as a E9 fitting.
However, i just couldn't get them to fit correctly. I went back to Wallothnesch and they confirmed that they are for the E9.

Strange thing is I've looked at several pics of doors handles and cannot see that chrome surround finish anywhere.
I have asked around and been advised that they do fit the E9, and that there is a gasket that is fitted between the door and the Chrome fitting.
Again i have looked for the gasket and it is not visible on the E9 RealEom or on Wallothnesch
i thought it could be a misdemeanour or a E3 or 2002 fitting, but i have since been corrected by one of the London guys,
who has seen them on a series 1 E24.

Do they also fit the E9?
Is the gasket available somewhere?
Any help or direction would be appreciated.

Color matched rubber on every car I've seen. Chrome looks exactly like early e24 stuff. I think e3 are similar chrome but larger.

Those are e3 and were never on an e9.
One London E9er said he was it fitted on a E9 at an Official Classic Car Show in London.
I think you guys on here are spot on....As no one has any photograpic proof

Wallothnesch were/are describing/advertising this item for sale as a E9 fitment when that is not the case. I bought that tiem along with other related door cards bits. When it couldnt be fitted I called them and they said that it was.
I thought they were the definitive reference for E9 parts.....Ummmm
Oh boy. Thats €52+Delivery charges plus a few hours attempting to fit something that does not/will not fit. I think i should be claiming a refund of some sort.
I will be contacting them 1st thing in the morning.

Thanks Guys,

E3. You can make them fit on an E9 if you wish. Certainly not E24, owned one for 30 years.

It is in the e3 parts book (3.0Si I think) but is not in the e9 parts book.

On 74+ E9s there is only rubber seal between the arm and the wooden trim to protect against squeaking noises.

It is confirmed on the pictures from user manual where there is no chrome belt visible.

The true it the handles are the same for E3 and E9. Also plastic upper part is the same which might causing expectations for the chrome piece.

As far as I know it can be adopted using some adjustments to the shape to fit, but any action will damage chrome paint which makes this process questionable.

I bought the complete set of plastic chrome pieces for the door panels from CoupeKing. They were marked for the E3 but I knew they would fit the E9. All of my door pieces are covered in matching leather and you can see these ear-shaped pieces fit the upper part of the armrest. The flash made the saddle leather look quite light. I suggest buying the Coupe King supports for the upper part of the door rest if you are going to take it all apart. There is a post showing this easy way to preserve the brittle part of the armrest that has the chrome top and the ear shape piece. Here are my broken pieces with epoxy holding them together and the metal support I bought to prevent the problem in the future.

Thats the bit i'm missing. Its not on the Wallothnesch site, or in the BMW Classic Realeom reference, I don't know the part No, and i can't find it anywhere.
Does anyone have any of these going, or know where it can be found sought. I'm in the UK.
Thanks
