I still don’t comprehend the carb CSL market. In my mind they are equally rare and just as special as a batmobile. However, I think prospective CSL owners want a batmobile, and batmobile owners want a carb CSL.

Here's a batmobile sold on Saturday by bonhams in belgium for a record price of over 360,000 euros.
There's nothing exceptional about this model, but the specialists will tell us what they think.

Hi Rouge

Far from a record price at auction - €578,750 is the current record price in a public auction and this was for a car with a non matching numbers engine, although last Bat made.

I had the Bonhams car looked at the weekend and unfortunately, while they claim that is a matching numbers engine, all the VVVV stamped across the engine number created worries for potential bidders.

Neither of the cars mentioned above were perfect and there have been a couple of private sales now (in last few years) in and around the above record price for much nicer cars than these two . There is also about to be a second series Bat on the market restored by the factory, but my understanding is that it will be significantly higher than above record and create a new high point.

The sale of the Bonham's Zoute car highlights the potential value of these cars. If the one that went for 285k usd on BaT had better presentation and the details had been corrected, it might have done a lot better.

As far as the ultralight carb'd car pricing... I believe these are trading under the radar so pricing remains hard to pin down, combined with the fact there are very few data points and finally, not sure I've seen a really "correct" one come to auction in a long time.

To me they are the one but I'm biased.
