For those who are interested, this weekends edition of the Wall Street Journal (12/28 & 29/2019) has a nearly 3 page article regarding Pacific Gas and Electricity and the travails of the company and their customers. Much is related to both the natural gas fire a few years ago and the forest fires of the past few years. In my reading of it, there is certainly enough places to place blame - company management, CA politicians and bureaucracy (as well as bureaucrats), and climate/topography. Last two probably can't be changed, but some of the others could be.

Also, In today's WSJ, (12/30/19) there is a single half page article written that describes what PGE needs to do to correct the major problems.

Just thought it might be interesting to some. You can't read the article on line without a subscription, so doesn't do any good to provide a link.

I have read those articles, as well as many others about the debacle that is PG&E and the California State government. Joseph Epstein has an interesting take in the podcast available at: https://www.hoover.org/research/libertarian-california-burning

Epstein points out that these fires have all started in government-owned forests; not on private land. Lumber companies may create ugly clear cuts, but they do manage their forests. The government, not so much.
