**I'm not the owner of this car.** I learned about if from a yahoo list server for E30's.
The deceased owner, Jef Rolison, was a member here and active in his BMWCCA chapter in eastern PA.
His brother, Brian, is selling the E9 and several E30 ix's.
His contact email is [email protected]

VIN: 2210088
Odometer (Approx.): Unknown
Build Date:
Vehicle Status: Driven
Street Address: 3 Pantherlick Road
City, State/Province,
Postal Code: Dushore, PA, 18614
Country: United States of America
Modifications: Bilsteins
General History: Built May 5th 1971 Imported to Italy May 11 1971. Original color Malaga 021. Imported to US 1985. Restored in Italy before US import. D-Jet injection system and engine from CSI.

From Brian:
"Hello,
Thank you for your interest. Please see attached photos. There is some rust through in both floor boards behind drivers' seats. Note the rear suspension brace on right side is no longer attached to floor support. Rest of body looks strait and good although it's going to need to be gone over. Interior is in very nice condition although the wood finish is cracking in places. I don't have a pic of right side door but it is starting to bubble in corner. I'm told there is another door but I haven't been able to go though all the parts yet as there are so many boxes I don't have a place to move them to yet to see what's there. All I know is there are spare parts including seats.
Engine is fuel injected so I'm assuming when they did the restore they upgraded the engine as well. Car hasn't been started since he parked it there 6-7 years ago. In general this car is a very workable/restorable piece.
I'm not intending to but I'm sure this email raises more questions than answers. If you'd like to discuss more, feel free to contact me.
Thanks again, Brian"

Jef's brother, Brian, sounds on the phone like a very sincere guy. He's charged with selling the E9 and the many E30's on the property. He was excited to hear that the e9coupe.com forum might be a good place to sell the car. He responded promptly to his email, but asked that we not put his mobile phone number on the interwebs.

re: BARN FIND

Here's the message from Brian regarding the other vehicles:

"I've had some time to go thru some of these cars and am providing an update in case of any interested parties

1971 3.0 CS "I". From my understanding the injected motor didn't come out till a few years later but this one has an updated version? This car was restored in Italy then imported here. I do have 2 extensive files pertaining to this car. Car has been "parked" in the barn for several years

Interior is in very nice condition. Body needs to be gone over. comes with another interior and any other related parts.

there is some rust in both floor boards both sides behind front seats. All shock towers appear solid.

1974 BARVARIAN automatic. This car is clean looking but does not crank over. Dash does light up with key on. Assuming a starter issue? haven't had time to check.

1992 325 ic convertible manual trans. California car. His everyday driver- has no obvious problems I can see.runs and drives fine and looks nice. has Tonneau cover to go with it and car cover.

1991 325 ix sedan automatic. clean looking/California car. mild front end damage but body looks good. Runs and drives fine.

1988 325 ix coupe manual trans. clean looking. has mild front bumper damage/ bumper cover removed. Runs and drives fine.

1992 325 ic convertible automatic. either restore or for parts. runs and drives trans feels strong. Has clean complete interior but drivers' seat could use redoing. Also have quarter panels, rear clip, and front fenders.

1988 325 ix coupe manual trans. either restore or for parts. runs and drives.

1989 325 ix sedan automatic. either restore or for parts. this one does runs but has a bad transmission. reverse only.

1988 325 ix coupe manual trans. either restore or for parts. runs and drives. lowered suspension.

The other 4 are either picked apart or rotted beyond repair( 3 other 325 ix's and another 74 Barvarian

there is probably every part imaginable stored in the buildings but haven't had time to go thru/catalog everything.

Cars/parts located in NE Pa.

Feel free to contact me at [email protected] for any further inquiries."

Wow lots of e30 iX

They only made about 4000 total of the iX variant between 1988 and 1991 and about half of these were automatics and some with 4 doors. Great cars (like all e30s) can easily go 200-300K miles without rebuild. Transfer cases go for $3000 and only from BMW.

I bought the Bavaria

I made the trek to look at these cars today. Two and a half hour drive. I was mainly interested in the Bavaria and a 325ix manual coupe but wanted a good look at the e9.
Sadly The bulk of maintenance history knowledge went with Jeff when he passed away. He was getting ready to retire and his plan was to have plenty of time to work on his cars. So some of the cars were parts cars. His brothers are good guys to deal with and reasonable.

The 325ix coupe is missing the front axles. Bad transfer case? I passed on it. There is a decent matching ix coupe, in the same color with a lowered suspension, that would go great as a parts car.

The e9 coupe is all there but the rust is petty bad under the left rear seat. The brace that bolts to the left rear subframe has detached from the floor. The right side has some rust in the same spot but not nearly as bad. The rest of the floors looked pretty solid but it's been in a barn for 5 years or more so as we well know it's rusting. Question is why was it left in the barn for five years? Don't know if was running when it was put there. It certainly is a restorable car.

Oh yeah, I bought the Bavaria. A little rust around the edges but very solid by east coast standards. It's a stock car with an 1985 cast cylinder head. Last run in 2013 but the motor turns freely. The ignition switch is broken or jammed will not go in the the full start position so we couldn't crank the engine. I bought the car at a really good price so I'll sort it when I get it home. Need to find someone with a flatbed who will go get it for me. Too bad it's a slush box, I'll burn that bridge when I come to it. I consider it a rescue. I look forward to the challenge of bringing these beasts back to life. My e9 and e21 were non runners when I bought them.

I'll be posting more as I move down this road.

First question, what is the easiest way to bypass the igintion switch?

John M

Hi everyone. I am brand new to this forum, and this is my first post here. I am a LONG time BMW fan, and have owned 17 BMWs over the years...minus an E9 that is on my "to aquire" list. My time has been over on the Bimmerforums.

As for this barn find, I have seen this car in person, even though I live on the other Coast. If you are handy with a welder, and can fabricate new rocker panels and floor pans, you will have a decent base to work from. The rear jack mount on the driver side is a "hole" that exposes a lot of rust from the inside, so I wouldn't look to patch it. The rear A frame supports/subframe don't attach to anything...more so on the passenger side. It is rusted out. However, it is obvious that at one time this car was completely redone. The seats are nearly perfect, and the chrome is in excellent shape. The wood is all there, but will need some refinishing. The windowsills appear to have some surface rust, but I think they are okay. The rear shock towers are good, and the front strut mounts are good as well. The spare tire well BARELY has any rust. Clearly at one time, this was an amazing example of the E9's beauty. I hope this helps.

John congrats on the Bavaria. Hopefully you will start a build thread on E3 portion of site for us to follow. It sounds like you know what your doing with two previous non-running projects. Sometimes it's good that they don't crank over that way you can drain the fuel, check the tank, check and replace fuel lines, fuel filter etc. before it all starts circulating through the system again. Blessing in disguise maybe. Nice color, hard to find. Post some more pics when you get a chance.

Thanks. Going up with a trailer next Sunday to bring it home. Can't wait to get my hands on it. It's the big brother to my 74 cs. Polaris with blue interior. I'll have a matching set of 74 six cylinder BMWs.

When I stuck my nose in the gas filler tube it actually smelled like gas not the unmistakable smell of bad gas. Draining the tank will still be the first thing I do.

I will update the progress on the e3 section of the forum. Here are a couple of pictures.

Chis,

Nice going! Did you get them all out of there already? If so it will be a lot easier to get the trailer back to the Bav. I will be taking the pedals out of the rusted Bav for sure, but it's way too far gone to bring home. My neighbors would report me. I may make a deal with Brian to flip it over with his tractor and pull the trans and drive shaft.

cars and parts

Like John said, nice going. Since I haven't heard anything from you, I assume that you no longer have interest in the car/parts we discussed, and I can move on. Best of luck.
