Here are some pictures of the restoration of my CSi
It was originally supplied new in Hong Kong to a millionaire in 1976, fitted with ALL extra's available Air Con, Red Leather, Electric Sunroof, Electric Mirrors, Gunmetal Grey Metallic pint finish, you will note it has a set of CS wheels fitted (by BMW Hong Kong at the purchasers request) the mirrors are very late and not seen on many CSi's the car has had 2 PO before me but had been bodged unfortunately on the roof, wheel arches and normal places so I have now had this all sorted but had to fit a new Webasto roof in place of the electric roof as the roof had gone too far and I couldn't get a new or good second hand one, I'm quite pleased with her now though especially the new leather interior
Told you the sunroof was bodged !!
What a mess
There are a LOT of bits in a new Tudor Webasto !!
And you need a BIG hole to fir it in, Ash frame being trail fitted before adding more metal to the roof to after cutting out all the bodge
100+ countersunk screws hold the frame in place
Fold over the roor edges to the Ash frame
Remove crappy Petrol tank and find rotten mounting (GOD the new tank was expensive !!)
Looks better now ready for new tank
New Genuine BMW spare parts used ONLY
Previous wheel arch bodge only tacked in place then lots of filler :-(
Peeled off easy though
I see Daylight !
Cut out the crap
Offer up new metal outside
Fully welded this time
Rear lower 1/4 cut out rot
Replace with new
Old sunroof unit pleased to see that gone after all the problems it had caused !
Floor pan rotten
Genuine BMW replacement
Floor pan rotten so removed
Inner sill and floor pan installed
Inner sill and floor epoxy sealed (NO MORE Rusting)
Drivers side same treatment
Bonnet only minor rot, but has to be sorted
Getting ready for prepping for paint
Seats back from trimmers new Connolly hide
Nearly ready for sending for paint
New Roof liner and underside of Webasto
Re-trimmed seats and new carpets in
Looking much better now, unfortunately it was raining the following day when I collected it and drove it home so now dirty :-(
