Now here is some background, at the moment I am a bit car-less, all I have is that motorcycle which I am still awaiting the title for, which does kind of suck. I have a pretty strong affinity for older trucks so I wouldn't mind picking up something to serve as a *temporary* (1 or 2 months really) daily driver for my relatively short commute (maybe 15-20 minutes?) in Central New Jersey. Once I get the title for the bike, I will sell it off and buy something more reliable and newer as a daily, and the truck will become a weekend driver. I am running on a tight budget since I am opening a business soon, but I found two different trucks that fit the bill, that I successfully negotiated the price of down to about $1,500 from their respective owners. Help me choose one, or even option C (something you found or think is better). I wouldn't really wanna spend more than 2k, which I know isn't a lot but yeah /: anywho, here are the two options
Option A
1979 Ford F-250.
God almighty I love the look of this truck. It seems to suit me quite well, but it's quite up there in miles. It's 2wd with 190k on an Oldsmobile Rocket 455 (more miles on the body I think). Camper special too? The rust is there, but I can live with it. According to the owner, it needs nothing to be a daily, it "runs excellent and everything works". This truck is far as all hell from me, around a 4 hour drive one way, but it seems really cool, and I think will hold it's value well
Option B
1990 Ford F-150
These trucks look pretty alright in my opinion, not ugly or good looking, just normal. It does indeed have the nice advantage of being 4x4 however, and since it's newer, could maybe serve as a more reliable daily driver. I think they were using EFI at this point. Some rust is there on this one too. This one isn't nearly as far from where I live as the other. It's got 175k miles, it'll need a passenger mirror and window, and maybe perhaps a small exhaust leak (nothing some tape couldn't handle), but the owner says it would fare well as a daily
WILDCARD: Also saw this 1977 Thunderbird https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/974995506191395/ which is supposedly turnkey. Thing looks badass to the bone. I would consider getting this.
All titles are clean, and since all are built well before 25 years ago, they are exempt from inspection. So what are we thinking folks?
