I need to get my sunroof repainted. Is it possible to remove the sunroof door without taking out the headliner ?

Definitely possible. I took mine out last year to polish the aluminum pieces. The front of the headliner piece of the sunroof pops out with a couple of friction fit clips, then slide it back into the roof. Just leave it there until you reinstall you newly painted panel.
There's a pretty good write up online by a guy that redid his '02 sunroof (our's are the same Golde sunroofs-just a little shorter). It gives you most of the details on getting it in and out. It shows his headliner completely out but you don't have to remove yours. Here's the link...
