Yep, it's a race car in the end. I think the formula is;

(what can I build that for) - (50%) = first offer price

I think you are now at 50%

9/14/2014 Update: This BMW has seen its price dropping over the past few weeks, now down to half of what was being asked in Hemmings in July. It found no buyers here on eBay two weeks ago at $58k (link), and is now seeking $48k here on eBay ending today.

Is this by any change an ex-Steve (lafngrvy) car? If so, I'm sure it's an outstanding build and probably worth every penny of the current asking price.

It was built at Racecraft in Seattle, Jim Froula. They do outstanding work. From conversations I had in the past, I've no doubt $100k was spent on the car, $200k in the description might be a bit of a stretch though. Either way, price is getting close to realistic now. No one could build this car for that price, unless you did all the work yourself "free" labor.
