I Have a '73 Bav that I am attempting to get on the road and put some miles on her. I had it in the shop to tune the Zenith carbs but the mechanic says that one of the carbs is missing a part that allows him to set the accelerator jet and he can't source the part. I believe I have the exact part number and may try to source it on the forum OR go with the webers. I'd like something that is the most reliable so that I can drive the car regularly and and make a project plan from there.

I also have water that gets in the trunk by way of an old cracked gasket behind the tail light if my diagnosis is correct. Anybody know of a source? Thanks

Yes, post a picture of the Zenith part you are seeking. I acquired a bunch of carb parts in order to have a supply of Weber jets to play with, and as part of that process acquired a handful off Zenith (and Mikuni) parts. Never having had Zeniths, I don't really know what these parts may be.

bavbob, $100.00 for a Bavaria trunk gasket from a dealer! That must be the 1973 price they never changed. Priobably dusted off the Microfiche Reader to get that one. See if there are any more bargains in that bit, thanks,

Steve

Hollow bolt should be this one. Shiny on is from my own car, so can't sell that one.
The used one is also from a thermal starter unit, but funny enough it is 2mm shorter. Still same M8 fine pitch thread and drilled for fluid/air transport. Should still work I think.

I think the "gasket ring" can be any std copper washer / crush washer. It should seal the cooling fluid from escaping.

#16 in the image

The last pn comes up as a 70mm hose for air intake, not a "screw".

FYI, realoem.com provides these nice images. It gives you something to reference.

Pls check the part & number.

If it is a screw, I may just have it, fresh zinced even if you're lucky....

No cooling fluid here and a standard Alu crush washer works.
Alu, good choice indeed.

You sure about the fluid? I added the realoem.pic in the post above. Isn't there cooling fluid going through those two pipes on the part it screws into?

I know those screws are stubborn, and often one of those pipes breaks off while trying to unbolt them.
