Hydroboost instead of vacuum for brakes?

Has anyone considered using a hydroboost system instead of the vacuum booster for the braking on a coupe.

I see these systems in many hot rods and they seem so simple and don't take as much space.

It uses the power steering pump to supply pressure to the booster for brake assistance.
There are many on the market in the $500 range.

I had issues with getting enough vacuum when I was running triple webers. My mechanic installed a hydroboost system from a 535 that worked fine. I did have issues with the "brake bomb" leaking but I think it was due to the age of the part which was purchased used out of a wreck.

Gary your m5 uses a hydroboost system. There are a couple of writeups of here on the conversion.

Actually I didn't explain well enough.
This system is like what GM and Ford use on modern cars.
The E28 system works but is sometimes problematic and over complicated with the valve and brake bomb.

I'm collecting the bits to do the BMW hydro boost conversion right now, will be doing this sometime next year when I do my engine swap.
As my car is a RHD there is a bit more plumbing to be done, so engine out will be much easier.

Chevy astro vans are the ticket. Now the bracket may require some fabbing up.
