I live in Manhattan. I’ve used Matt McGinn at Sports Car Restoration in CT for many years. (I’ve had an 1972 ’02 for twenty years. This is my first CS, six months in). Matt is a two hour drive from me and public transportation there or back, is not direct. Best for lengthy jobs. I need someone local for smaller jobs popping up.

I’ve searched the forum pretty thoroughly, but didn’t find anything decisive for NYC, Tri-state mechanics. Nearest seems Bedford which is still over an hour a way. Anyone have recommendations?

Kindly, Randy

Thanks used him about a decade ago, and felt price gouged. I Had to point out I had disassembled a same part and took 1/4 the time. He reduced the bill.
I had a less than positive experience at that same garage about 15 years ago. He might be a great mechanic, and I just caught him in a bad day so let me just say YMMV

If you can afford it, send it to VSR1, have them go over it stem to stern, write the big check, enjoy.
