The starter gear on my 1973 manual flywheel should be replaced but it doesn’t seem to be available anymore according to RealOEM.com . I don’t believe it can be reversed because there seems to be additional machining on the starter side of the gear that doesn’t appear on the backside of the gear. Do I have any more reasonable options  other than buying a new flywheel ? THANKS ~ John Buchtenkirch

You can fire up the big green egg and swap the ring gear or just call Double 02 salvage and have them ship you a good used one- think 75 bucks or so.

I’d love to swap on a new ring gear if someone would tell me where to buy one.
“the big green egg” ? I always used a fast moving torch to heat & remove ring gears. ~ John Buchtenkirch

Big Green Egg-- the best BBQ in the world, invented down south....

I have down my share of ring gear swaps- now I think it is easier to just buy a used flywheel and get on with it.

Double 02 salvage - I checked yesterday and they have a least 100 or more flywheels sitting on the shelf.
