For all of us CSL geeks, my 2 cents worth….these are extremely x 2 in rarity as these are the very first of the Alpina 7x14 rims without the KBA#. I’ve never seen a set before, certainly not a matching set and not in this condition.
The very early carb CSLs must have had these.
Will gladly stand corrected if I’m mistaken!

Lovely set!

Something that stands out is the date stamp on the visible side of the wheel, on between the holes. Never seen that before, but I am far from a csl expert.

That is distinctly different from the 2 sets I have now, and the 7 wheels I had previously. They all have the date code at the back.

Some of the date codes seem to be 11/71 and 1/72.

Another thing that is different is the way the 2800 206 number is formed; it has a ring around the letters, as if a bit lowered relative to the face surface. This also seems to be the case for the "alpina" on some of these 4 rims.

#needs to be added to the "wheel faq"

More infos: one is dated 10/71 and ALPINA sign is engraved, one is dated 11/71 with rised Alpina sign, two are dated 1/72 with rised Alpina sign. I have them from many years and had them professionally repainted 5 years ago.

Lorenzo, do you happen to know as of which month in 1972 did Alpina start using the next series with KBA # 1110344 ?

Thanks for the hint, since your wheels from 3/71 have the KBA# 1110344 and the rims you are selling have a 1/72 date without the KBA#, it would be fair to assume that sometime between Jan and March 1972 the change over took place!
Grazie tantissimo.

Saw them on facebook first and was thinking the same thing about the FAQ as @eriknetherlands suggested. From what Mine are from 08/72 (incidentally from an RHD) and match the 03/72 wheels so the run of the what are now 2nd gen lasted at least that long.

I know what you meant but FYI I think you mistyped 03/71 instead of 03/72. @Lorenzo said his carb CSL was 03/72 . Only splitting hairs since these margins are so thin. From what I have read from the e9 experts on here, the first carb CSL’s were produced in 03/71 so it is feasible that these wheels do go back that far however.
