Do the strut mounts for the E3 crossover with other models? Are genuine that much better than aftermarket, or is it just the BMW tax? Thanks.

the struts on the e3 and e9 are the same. this also applies to the upper mount. i presume you are talking about the bearing that shows up under the hood that holds the top of the strut. they are only 118 bucks (ea) from getbmwparts.com

i am not sure what is different between the part that Mike has referenced versus the one that i did ... except the price (3x). they both seem to be the same part with some minor difference ... and both are for e3 and e9. the xx663 part is also applicable for the e12 and e24
While on the subject, will E12 struts interchange with an E3??
E12 struts have a different style gland nut, at least for Bilsteins
I have heard they will work on an E3 but not E9. Where I am going with this is to say I have a spare pair of E12 fronts machined for coilovers

They will fit, but there are some differences. The e12 struts have a different camber angle and will lower the front by 1/2".
