Scott and Fran Hughes' CSL. They also had their #51 there.
I was trying to remember the owners' name. That's right, the 3.5 CSL was there, too, with the rad stripes. An amazing car. I couldn't get an early entry ticket for dad so we went in at 9:30 and it was a huge crush of people. I wanted to get a picture of #51 but couldn't really. Surprisingly there were almost no BMWs there, just the two E9s and one 327. Almost no motorcycles. Actually less cars I think than years prior. Just as many people, though. Hagerty/Broad Arrow are kinda bungling it, I think. Their sell-through rate wasn't very good, but RM Sothebys off-site still got like 97% or something crazy. I think something funny may have been going on at the BA auction, too. Those cars that did sell seemed outrageously inflated. Compare this E9 to some that have sold recently... https://www.broadarrowauctions.com/vehicles/am23_060/1974-bmw-3-0-cs Nice car but is it 112k plus 12% BS fee plus 6% sales tax for a total of like 138k? Not so sure... same with other stuff in that auction...

There were two nice 2002s in the parking lot, also. One chamonix and one turkis. And just outside of the show was one of these: https://www.bmwblog.com/2022/01/30/bmw-z4-m3-e92-engine-looks-like-z8-coupe/ Very interesting. Got to talk to some of the people from that company for a bit. Lastly, in my opinion one of the most interesting things there was this car called a Denzel, which I'd never heard of before. Like 5 of them were there. One owner I spoke to solely makes the parts for them. It was like a 356 for the true hipster hepcat. The logo and the typeface on the badge were interesting. https://www.classicandsportscar.com/features/porsches-forgotten-rival-meet-wd-denzel-1300

Here's the pic of my car with Scott's cars in the background. They were sending the group of BMWs away to get ready for the Sunday event.

The Z-8 coupes were also right outside the entrance to the Sunday Hilton Head Concours last November. Quite impressive.
The first Denzel 1300 I have ever seen was parked outside the Goodings auction tents on Friday. Then to see 5 of them in a row on the golf course on Sunday was pretty remarkable.

Denzel?! HHmmm...sounds familiar...
Yep, my coupe was originally delivered/sold through the Austrian Denzel Dealership in Vienna.

Cool backstory, thanks for sharing!

More on Denzel, the man:
