Cheap is a relative term
This 1973 Type 3 (Chassis 3132063403) is said to be original and rust free with 53k miles. A lifelong California car, it belonged to the original owner until 2013. It’s recently received attention from a VW master mechanic including shocks, brakes, and an engine tune-up. Like many survivors belonging to little old ladies, this one is an automatic, but the apparently good condition goes a long way to make up for it. Find it here on eBay in Santa Maria, California with no reserve beyond an $8,900 opening bid.
This 1988 Scirocco looks very clean and is said to be garaged, well maintained and retain its original paint. 17” BBS wheels are a bit too big and a bit too polished, but we’d sell them along with the aftermarket pinstriped taillights in order to partially fund some teardrops rims, Euro bumpers, and manual swap. Said to have working A/C and no mechanical issues, Bilsteins, poly bushings, sway bars and a big cam are all nice upgrades. Find it here on Craigslist in Sonoma, California for $6,999.
This 1984 300TD wagon (VIN 1231931F027296) is offered by its second owner and has recently undergone a long list of work including new paint, exterior trim, axles, master cylinder, water pump and more. A Euro market car, it retains attractive slim bumpers but has had USDOT lights fitted—we’d add Euro items to complete the look. It’s said to be rust free, includes service history from new, and looks just as nice inside as out. Find it here on Craigslist in Palos Verdes, California for $8,900.
