After searching the site I couldn't find a definitive list of the CS / CSi colours.
That's not to say that it isn't here somewhere. So I looked on the Realoem parts list for the paint labels and there it was, as shown below, with the part #s for the corresponding labels and presumably the year the colour was introduced. Out of 28 colours there should be one that suits a period colour restoration. Hope this helps someone.
Gary.

hmm have not heard of a coupe in granatrot or pastelblau. I had a '76 2002 in pastelblau and it was about the most unexciting color ever. I thought granatrot didn't come along until much later, someone correct me if I'm mistaken.

I work on a 74 regularly that used to Carl's Nannys car. Nice looking when the paint is still decent. Looks horribly pink at the end of its lifespan

Some of the month/year infos are not correct. You couldn't have ceylon in 1968 for instance, nor Agave, Malaga or Riviera. Those three were introduced in August 1969. Arktisblau became available in 1974 and nevada was not longer offered around 1972-73. Baikal was a regular paint up til 1973.

Best regards

Well since I'm the newb I'm very happy to be corrected. As I stated I found this list on Realoem under 3.0 CS. It is quite possible that some colours were introduced in Europe only and at different times to those of the US cars. I have seen pictures of Pastel Blue CSs. I'm going with Verona at this stage but I will have to make a final decision by the end of June when the shell goes for body reinforcement and final preparation for painting.

I think there is a very early (Pre-Blumax) 2800 cs in the Point Loma area of San Diego. Approx 1969 and I believe it was Granatrot met., but I have not seen it around in a couple years. I also saw the car at Carl's shop.

Granatrot

Correct on Marilyn's car.

Speaking of the Wegweiser's: Art's former car (2-tone Polaris/Fjord) is the only one I've ever seen in that combo (or any other). I think I recall that he believed it was factory. Any others out there?

Granatrot arrived here in the 74 models along with Siennabraun. Glenn, the other early 2800CS was Verona I thought. It showed up at the clean car show six years ago, number 13, Blumax is 16, and looked very tired. Dates in RealOEM can not be trusted either. Two tone from the factory, I don't think so.

Chris-

The number sounds right- a very faded Verona could be mistaken for another red. By the way, wsn't there a Granat rot and a Granada or was that only on 2002s?

Just as (almost) any coupe nowadays can have had who-know-what misadventure in the past, and could have been resprayed any color the owner liked and would pay for. Odd colors on coupes, or one-offs, could very well have happened, I'd not be surprised at all.

From my years on the Coupe Register, I always though Art Wegweiser had been pretty thorough in his research. If he said his two-tone paint was factory, I'd believe it until/unless high authority told me otherwise. Further, I would like to think (given anecdotal evidence that high rollers got whatever they ordered) one could get almost any color or trim option if one knew the right persons.

Many of us do not know the full history of our cars. Sample: wife and I bought our second '98 Benz C280 about six months ago. We got from the previous (third, as it turned out) owner about six months of history, including his dropping $4500 for a full motor and trans re-seal. One day in a parking lot, a lady on the sidewalk was kind of staring at us. I thought she was waiting for us to pull out so she could get in the car next to us. No! She was the second owner, recognized the car and gave us fifteen years of receipts from which we now know the car had been nearly totalled, three months old by when he first owner who suffered a seizure and wrecked. I had not been able to find any sign the car had been damaged (and didn't go back to look). It's to all appearances a cream puff in a very greeny green, which was not stock for the C class, but a special order color from the E class, back in the day. Just goes to show... sometimes there are special order items "out there" possibly right under our noses, that we could not, through normal channels, be aware of.

Art always contended that his two-tone was a factory paint job, and Art certainly knew his e9s. Back then, you could get almost anything you wanted in order for BMW to sell the required number of cars they needed to sell for racing purposes (homogolation).

Awesome! If it weren't for the receipts I would not have believed her.

Is there a pic of this car? I'd like to see said color scheme
