Early on, car manufacturer BMW recognized the importance and value of art in culture. In a time before the widespread proliferation of artist collaborations, BMW was subject to its very first Art Car back in 1975 when race car driver Hervé Poulain commissioned his friend Alexander Calder to paint his BMW 3.0 CSL he would later go on to race at LeMans. Since then, almost 20 Art Cars have been conceived spanning some of the world’s most prolific pop artists including Roy Lichtenstein, Andy Warhol and Jeff Koons. Evo take a tour of the collection and visit with almost every single Art Car during its appearance in London at the Olympics.
