At least the "ET" number explains it was for newer bimmers and the shape/profile of the start arms is not as in the Alpina's. Such rims were used in E12, E23/E24 and could also fit E28 and other.

AFAIK topic was discussed in details on the thread on this forum. I'm sure you can find it easily by key words.

As just stated, common on e12 and e23, never on an e9, known as BMW Turbine wheels as they have the raised ridge on the spokes and ET 25 isn’t great either.
