Hallett was built in 1976 after War Bonnet Raceway in nearby Mannford, OK closed in 1970. Toly Arutunoff was the original owner and builder of Hallett. That is a lot of lean for a race car in that first picture. It reminds me of when I used to run my coupe in BMWACA high speed driving schools. At a Riverside racetrack event before the last session of one weekend, my race instructor came up to me and told me to take it easy. He said in an earlier session he saw my car leaning a lot. He also said he had never seen a car lean so much without rolling over. A friend got a picture of me in turn six with my right rear tire off the ground. After that I installed a Bavaria anti-sway bar which is a little thicker than the 2800CS anti-sway bar. That helped a lot.
I never got to run Hallet. I have heard a lot about it though. Redrumm3, do you know how old that track is?
I believe Lance White in Cincinnati now owns the car. He is a BMW CCA member and currently head of the BMW CCA Foundation. In the early 2000's I used to race with Phil Slate who at that time owned the BMI e9. He later sold it, anyone know where it is now? Neat and fast e9.
