My door panels are fine other than some cuts in the vinyl and edge bead where people get in and out. The hardboard, trim strips etc are all still nice and can be reused. I was browsing and read this on the WU site:

The BMW CS Coupes from 1965 to 1975 used a unique embossing on many of its vinyl covers including the seat, door panel and rear quarter panel covers. OEM versions of these panels are now considered discontinued. World Upholstery now offers authentic reproductions of door panels and rear quarter panelsusing our die-cutting and heat-pressing machine but using original BMW vinyl.

Has anyone purchased new door trim from WU, and if yes were you satisfied with the authenticity and quality?

Anyone use this place recent times for new seat covers?

I know the sure and safe route is to buy GAHH covers and have a local specialist build new seat pads and do the install. But I'm like a handicapped version of Jesus, where I like dickin around in the barn and trying things out myself (for better or worse).

Thanks, John

John,

IMO you could probably address the soft trim needs locally. It is just a piece of vinyl folded in half and sewn together. Anyone with a decent sewing machine could DIY this. Unlike the door/console/headliner vinyl, it does have a modern padded backing to it. For that reason it should be really easy to find a substitute.
