Athena won Best BMW & Best of Show at OktoberFast 2017 in Stowe Vermont.
Well deserved. You will need to build a display case.
way to go Andrew ... keep those awards coming while representing the e9 community so well.
Well done Andrew, looks like the fjord cars are on a roll at the moment.
Thank you! Credit goes to Cindy for cleaning and representing the car so well.
Awesome, Andrew!!! Congratulations buddy.
The CS is looking a little less stellar than Athena at the moment. We removed the subframes today.
Barney had an old 02 front subframe. I tore it apart and we'll use the main structure for the front chassis dolly (early Coupes share same front subframes as the 2002). We'll fabricate the rear dolly from square tubing.
Disassembled, cleaned, polished, and lubricated the chrome NK interior rear view mirror... shiny
...one piece at a time
Congrats, could there have been a better choice, hell no!
Great work Ed, can you fit an M30 engine, 5 speed in there?
nothing, ...but, mounted the two carbs and placed the fuel tank again in its place, installed an external fuel filter
Anything could be made to fit, I suppose. If this car wasn't so nice, I may be tempted to swap the powertrain. As it is, the engine is pretty fresh with a worked-over 121ti head; I'll add some 45DCOEs and a header to it. As for the 5 speed, there is lots of room and I plan to swap an OD unit in. A CR box would be "cooler" but cost/benefit has me leaning towards a standard OD box from a 320i...which I already have in the stash. Should be a very simple swap.
The plan is for a build that is essentially stock with period correct, bolt-on, tasteful upgrades.
Drove it in the rain..........
Changed the fuel filter and gasket in the fuel tank, and cleaned out the boot (trunk) area.
Fitted gas struts to the trunk lid. Work well, although they did not send the right size so it doesn't open all the way.
Do you have any photos of that installation? This sounds really interesting.
Just installed a Bluetooth adapter to back of my vintage Frankfurt so that I can remain stuck in 70's listening to my Spotify playlist on my iPhone.
I will post some - I got them from these guys - adjustable SS. The calculations need a bit of work but once fitted, you release the pressure until they work.
Next for the bonnet
...or the hood. I might do both
