Seat aluminum chrome trim reattachement

I need to drill out all the rivets to remove this so I can reupholster but how do you reattach....self tapping flat head screws?

rivet out, rivet in is what I would say.

I used pop rivets as well. Since I'd sent my seats out for re-upholstery, there was no access to the back side of the rivet when I did this. So, I just used good long aluminum rivets, and the contraction/wrinkling of the back side was sufficient for a satisfactory attachment.
