insight into this coupe

I'm new to this forum. Always loved E9's and would like to get a nice one.
Does the fact that this one has a completely different engine reduce its long term value. Would it drive differently? Would I be able to take it to any BMW shop to have work done? I'd like to look at it but I'm in the Southeast.
Any tips would be appreciated.
Thanks

This coupe,

it's owner, and the restoration is well documented here within the site. With a little investigation, I'm certain you could get comfortable with the car.

The answer to your question is no.

Tasteful upgrades, done well; enhance the value of this E9. ( The fact that the seller mentions Mr. Lawrence's involvement is important from the fact that he and his work is well respected and sought out by many in the car community. Justifiably so for good reason.)

advice on buying an E9

1) Pay to have it inspected by a specialist in E9 body restoration work. Anyone can make the top surfaces look good. It's the stuff you can't see without a boro-scope that will come back to bite you a few years down the road. Did they acid etch or media blast off all the rust in the Apillar area? Did they shoot catalyzed etching primer?

2) Don't skip a compression/leakdown and a thorough driving test. Otherwise, you might find out after the purchase that you have a strong running car that burns lots of oil. In this case, I'd trust Don's assessment of mechanical condition and I'd guess it's excellent.

3) If you are thinking of spending $50k on a car, you should spend $600 to fly out and participate in the PPI.

Hi all. As you noticed I have handed the car off to Brad Goldstone at SFSC to handle the sale of the car. For those of you who don't know Brad, he's a stand-up guy who is a car buff first and a high end dealer second. If you live near the Bay Area it's worth a trip to see his inventory and to meet him to talk about classic cars, whether new or vintage.

When I bought this CS I planned to keep it for the long term as part of a collection of cars that I have always admired. Because I have two young kids I liked the back seat of the CS because we can use it for family outings.

Last year I added a '59 Eldorado Biarritz to the stable (I know it's the opposite of the CS!) and what I discovered was that my kids always want to ride in the Caddy and infrequently in the CS. Since both cars are only "fair weather" cars, it became apparent that I wasn't going to use the CS much and it is taking up an invaluable garage spot. I have a '67 E-Type itch that I need to scratch so I figured that it made sense to let go of the CS.

It is a great, honest car and I'd sell the car to a friend without a second thought.

Cheers.

This well documented restoration and selling price really helps with the "what's my car worth" questions, especially since this wasn't a CSL. It would be great if this info on valuation was tracked with the same attention we use to track the supply of red handled screwdrivers.

Great car. Nicely bought, and sold.
