Alan is right,
I have been delinquent in my thread.

Went into dream mode, thinking about what to do with the car,
Then acquisition mode, buying stuff for the car,
Then dog-house mode, when She-Who-Must-Be-Obeyed figured out that our PayPal account was being used for the car...

Now I'm in back in reality mode.
My son and I worked on a few things, but I felt I there were a few improvements that would require more expertise.

mostly enjoyed the car over the summer.

Fixed the door brake, using the Mercedes unit suggested in the forum.
Had to trim the black cover to fit.

Does that look right? I put the solid part of the brake towards the inside of the car.

Sent the seatbelts repaired by Al (bluedevils).

Did a great job. Feel safer than ever!

He even found me the triangular do-hickies that it hangs from just behind the door.

The only things that I need, are the plastic protectors that the '74's had at the shoulder level along the outside of the rear seats and the hooks for the do-hickies.

And then...

sfdon found a 635 CSi rusting away in a farmer's field with an M90 engine. Apparently, it was home to a few critters.

So the car will winter down south and get the sfdon treatment.

All I had to do was pull the engine out.

I heard about that car! Fantastic progress! Just need
to get rid of those diving board bumpers. ;)

PM Sent!

i think it is a pretty coupe ... i'm not a personal fan of the big bumpers. that being said, i had 3 big bumper 2002's and never thought about changing them. if i bought a '74, unless i restored the car ... i might not elect to change them. it would also depend on how original of a coupe i had.

Thanks guys,

Mark is right, I do wish to give it a more Euro look. The bumpers are okay if there is a lot of traffic and you need to protect your car, but I think the car looks more graceful with the Euro bumpers.
I do want to fix some rust areas, so there is mission creep... I might as well do the whole car and delete the side markers.
And that was decided after Harry had found me a nice set of rear side markers.
Thanks Harry.
