Here is the result of six years of restoration of a 1969 2800CS
It was purchased in Sweden but now it rolls on Norwegian roads.
It has been a huge job, just with an interruption of 6 months to build a new garage.
Some modifications have been made:

3.3i L-Jetronic engine
16 "Alpina wheels
Modern sound systems
Remote locks on the doors and trunk lid
Alarm System
Improved safety harnesses
Dynamat soundproofing
Stainless exhaust system
Installed A/C system
Electric front windows
Lowered springs with Bilstein shocks
All leather interior

Color is Baikal (original)

There is not a single part of the vehicle that has not been checked and repaired. Except for the automatic gear box that only has a new gasket on the oil pan. Now I can finally enjoy the results on dry summer roads. Constantly listening for unusual sounds!

nice

really nice work - beautiful car.
yours in the only coupe ive ever seen with only 2 wires coming off the positive battery terminal - mine is a rat's nest of at least 8 wires. do you have a separate terminal block somewhere else?
also did the dynamat make a noticeable difference in noise reduction? and what are the details of your stereo install? happy with the quality of sound?

I have never driven an e9 in high speed before, but a friend of mine with a standard 3.0CSI is complaining about high engine and wheel noise. Within next week we will have a road test with both cars and see if mine is any better.
I can drive in 80-90 km/h and have a conversation with my passenger without any problem, so I guess it´s a difference. All window seals are new and and windows are adjusted to optimum angles to seal against water and wind. I will come back with a conclusion later!

The sound system is from Pioneer and I think it works well. External amplifier under the rear seat, main unit in the glove box and tweeters in the ashtrays, which both provide good sound and a discreet look.

Wires mainly connected to existing fusebox, but an extra fusebox is installed for A/C and L-jetronic system.

Henrik,
Beautiful work. Your photos in the collection show how extensive the project was, nice job.

Can you give us any details on how you engineered the seat belt posts at the b-pillar?

I took some pictures while I made this arrangement. But due to finger trouble I managed to destroy all of them. There were many challenges in making this solution. Especially because there is very little space and structure is quite weak. Therefore, it must be strengthened with additional steel plates. And, it can not accommodate extra bolts to anchor the main (leather covered) bracket. Therefore extra steel and the bracket are welded to the existing "bolt on" structure.
It is difficult to explain without photos, but I will try to make a "manual" later. I am however, very satisfied with the result. It is solid and very practical in comparison with the original solutions.

Very nice Henrik.

You have set the bar high for me now with my restauration but it is my duty as a Swede to beat you. And one of your countrymen have turned Quisling and is doing the work for me :)

Mine will be Baikal too, will be interesting to compare and see how similar they turn out.

Thank you!
Your car is in good hands so I am sure the result will be good! The entire interior of my car was in the same shop and the result was great.
When I´m looking at the old photos it strikes me if I was beaten by a Swede the day I bought the car. When the deal was settled I asked him if I could pick up the car the week after, immediately he offered me to transport the car home to Oslo on his old Bedford truck (300km total) for free! He'd probably make sure that the car disappeared from Swedish soil once for all!

Beautiful car and great to see the "before" and "after" condition comparison. And considering what seems to be the cost of cars in Scandinavia, truly an inspiration.

I happened to see a nice coupe in Roskilde a couple of weeks ago at a cars and coffee type gathering and the owner suggested that there just weren't that many coupes up North, -and based on your "before" pictures one can see why. Will try to post some shots of that event.

I had always thought the ashtrays would be a natural place for tweeters but had never done it or seen it done before. Looks good. Would be very interesting to hear about what you used to build them.
